RUNNING RACES IN PRAGUE 2021
Due to the ANTI-COVID-19 measures, most running races do not announce their propositions in advance. We are currently unable to follow up and share with yoou all the ongoing changes, so check yourselves. However, as the situation in the Czech Republic is getting back to the normal, expect positive news.
RUNNING TOURS PRAGUE is full of vigour and enthusiasm so we are pleased to say we operate as we did before the crisis. See you soon!

The route sticks to the Vltava riveside which makes it nice to look at. It south of the centre, yet very close to it. Very flat and very faaaast! And these guys organise open sessions of tennis, badminton, ping-pong,so if you seek company and feel like doing some other sport, visit their English website.

Palestra Kbelska 10
Very popular race, a season opener. More than 22 cathegories. The surface can be frozen-over. Takes place in the north-east outskirts of Prague, on the inter village roads (the traffic is stopped, though).

Spanning between several villages to the north of Prague, the series of runs is one of the typical friendly-atmosphere community runs that is not necessarily highly competitive, still we would love too see more running races in Prague like this one.

Mizuno Trail Running Cup
One or two laps responsible for 160 / 320m of superelevation gain. At the Petrin Hill. Up and down and … repeat! The location provides very good views of the city indeed, so we advise you to run very easy (alright, we are just joking!). Alternatively, do come back again later on to admire the views. Needless to say, the hill and its neighbourhoods is also on most of our routes’ way (esp. the Compact Prague and XXL Prague).

A night run. Extraordinary experience. Very strong charity mission (support the blind and people with serious visual impairments).
Have you already been to Stromovka? For many locals there is no better place for running – and for exercises of all types. Dog-walkers, lovers, families, all love Stromovka (in Czech it means “Forest Grounds”).

Beh Hvezdou
A 10k trail run (soft footpaths & dirt roads) within the lovely Star Game Reserve forest. Save some time before or after the race to visit the main (and in fact only) building in the natural monument, a magnificent 16th century summer palace. Quite a lot of running races in Prague happen right here.

Skaluv lesni beh
A family friendly trail run in a nice Hostivar forest (footpaths & dirt roads & some asphalt, too). Organised by the Prague Collage of Psychosocial Studies, the race is dedicated to one of the founders of Czech psychiatry. The race is started by the director of the school striking a huge gong.

Sarecko-Hanspaulsky Ultra Trail
We totally recommend this one. You can design yourself a race and choose between 1 and 4 laps. Each lap is 18 k with about 500 metres superelevation gain. Personal, friendly, unforgetable event. The surface mainly consists of soft footpaths, 20% dirt roads and 10% of asphalt. Located at the edge of Prague in a green belt of natural park “Sarka-Lysolaje” to the North of the Centre (direction Airport). Amidst the trees and meadows you find yourself thinking: How come you are still presumably in the wider city centre? 🙂

Mizuno Park Race (Divoka Sarka)
A trail run that utilizes utilizes to the full extent all the spots this lovely (our favourite!) natural reserve has to show. To take part in this event one also contributes to their tourist checked-items list. Normally a much too detached part of Prague and hence overlooked, it is definitely worth a visit. If you are lucky, there will be plenty of ripe cherries all around (so help yourself).

Neon Run Praha
The fifth annual Run Neon is a wild and crazy neon experience! This action is not so much about speed, but rather experiential run through different zones shining in incredible neon colours. Location: runners – heavens called Hvezda. A spacy park / forest to the west of the wider city centre.

Bechovice – Praha
Legendary road race from a village of Bechovice (close to a commuter rail station) heading for Prague wider centre district. For the 124th time! Official road running championship of the the Czech Republic. Not perfectly flat, a bit windy but…. iconic!

Prazsky maraton ve Stromovce
You go 8 times the lap of 5.274 metres around the shady Stromovka park. 57th edition. No need to register in advance but make sure you come by 8:30 AM to register on the spot.

Velka Kunraticka
Extremely popular trail race winding through the largest of all the Prague’s forests. Interval start (each 10 seconds two runners set off). The trail takes you through a creek, then sharply uphill and downhill and …repeat. It is a muddy business indeed. Hurry up with the registration starting on Oct, 6. Held since 1934 every second Sunday in November.

Bechovicka 8
Located in a forest park of Bechovice village, it is fairly accessible from Prague as the commuter rail station is nearby. Registration fee is half when you book in advance. The contest is a sister-event of the legendary Běchovice – Praha (see 27th Sept).

Prazska Stovka – Prague Ultratrail
The queen of all the Prague races. At least when distance is considered. Shorter distances also available, e. g. 55k and 85k. Iconic event: we are not exaggerating now. This year already the 27th edition of annual race that is rooted in a tradition of long-distance marches. Every edition of the Prague Ultratrail is unique: the route, starting-point as well as the distance itself.
Get enrolled and patiently wait till few weeks prior to the run while the details get gradually unveiled, e.g. in this Facebook public group. Expect betw. 110 and 140 kilometres. The best feature of all: the route is perfectly marked so do not worry about sophisticated devices and batteries and studying/memorising the route. As the climate gets crazy, one cannot foretell the temperatures, but be ready for anything betw. minus 20 and plus 8 Celsius.
